A decision by Ramsey County Judge Lindman Monday had many child care providers very pleased. A lawsuit brought forth by in-home child care providers against forming a union won their case to halt an election to unionize subsidized child care providers. Judge Lindman said that this vote should be taken up by the legislature since they are the lawmaking body of the state. This is great news for our small businesses!
Governor Dayton issued an executive order, trying to unionize subsidized providers. I am thankful the judge made the decision he did; it proves that law making is not up to the governor but up to those elected to pass laws in the legislature.
Ballots were slated to be sent out on December 7th, and returned by December 21st, and counted on December 22nd. The ballots will no longer be sent out this month, and the temporary restraining order will halt this process until the issue is revisited on January 16th.
